I wanted to write a Science Fiction book rooted in Somali Islamic culture. The book takes place in a fictional village in the horn of Africa and touches on themes of religion, identity, colonialism and colourism. The book follows two young kids as they are eager to learn about the world outside of the culture and why there are misconceptions about their culture. They are faced with a huge challenge after their village is raided by outsiders who seek to sell the power of their village for political gain.
