Set in the dusty streets of India young Mulana Everindeen struggles daily to get to college whilst villainous thugs try to pull of her head gear and beat her.
On one particular day she is dropping her brother to school and they are chased by the thugs and seek refuge in a ship at the harbour. They hide in the ship for hours and fall asleep under their exhaustion only to wake up and find they are no longer at the dock, but in the middle of the sea.
Of all unlikely places they end up in China where Mulanas brother gets caught by Chinese officials and thrown into the Xinjiang concentration camps .
Mulana must do what she can to get her brother out and try to get back home.
